Upgrading my Mac Pro 3.1 - Need Recommendations

My trusty Mac Pro 3.1 Harpertown is overdue for a facelift. Since my sample drive just dies (1TB Seagate Barracuda 72k HDD), I've been doing research for the best thing to replace it with. Of course an SSD was the first thing I thought of. Then I discovered the SATA issue with the MacPro, So now I'm looking at a PCIe card to give me SATA III to get the full use out of an SSD. I need recommendations on what is the most intelligent way to go with this when on a tight budget.



I've heard something here on the DUC about the MacPro 3.1 being buggy with the PCIe SATA III upgrade thing. I don't know what to do at this point. I can't afford to upgrade the entire machine. Any info would be really appreciated. Thanks.
