Digi 003r slave to Apollo twin?

I've searched and haven't found any info on this. I have a digi 003r and I am going to buy the apollo twin for the quality pres and converters, but I will need more inputs to track drums. Is it possible to connect digi 003r from adat out on 003r to adat in on apollo twin? I have an Ada8000, but I was wanting to use my other preamps through the direct ins on the 003r, plus use the foot switch for punch in/out (will that work thru lightpipe connection, if it works at all?) any info is appreciated.
