Mac Pro 1.1 10.6.8 Pro Tools 9.0.6 Mackie 1620i
Periodically for 3 years with Mac Pros we get crashes on Pro Tools startup.
Pro Tools will get to the open session dialog and then the beach ball spins.
We tried trashing Prefs early on, doesn't help. Repairing the disk doesn't fix it. Reloading from an image file backup fixes the problem sometimes but not always. We were banging our heads on the wall until someone on a Mac Forum mentioned re-seating the memory sticks. That seems to work every time this problem pops up. I cleaned the edge card contacts on the sticks and memory cards with an eraser and contact cleaner, problem came back. The memory sticks are 1 year old from crucial memory.
Anyone else have this problem? We are pretty disappointed with this, Apple quality? I had PCs that ran for years and never had to re-seat or clean contacts.
