loops loading as one shots

so i'm new to pro tools, been an acid pro user for about 15 years. so i like working with and chopping up loops and with acid, besides a loop conforming to whatever tempo my track is i'm also able to stretch or shrink a loop by beats i.e..if an 8 bar loop is 32 beats i can stretch it to 33, 34, 35 and so on and vice versa. with pro tools not only do i have no idea if that's even possible but i can't get my loops to load in as loops, they come in as a 1 shot and are all random lengths. i really need help fixing this problem as well as knowing if it's possible to then shrink or stretch said loops
