hi all.
I'm posting this message as I'm in the midst of a crisis that's been going on since June this year. My name's Ed, I'm fully blind, a music producer and studio engineer with 14 years Digidesign experience with TDM systems and legacy macs.
I've owned a studio setup consisting of pure analogue equipment as well as digital synths, samplers, etc and a G3 beige custom running PT TDM 5.13 under OS 9.2 driving an analogue console for 14 years, a setup that was blind friendly and very comfortable for my needs.
sadly in June I became the victim of a con by a Pro Audio company who offered me a major upgrade to a PT 11HD based system with a digital production desk that was supposed to be blind friendly. Sadly this wasn't the case and it went wrong.
With the incident, I lost everything. all I was left with was a pair of reference monitors and a pair of new but defective reference headphones as an insult, a bare studio. I had to take legal action abd because of this, I've been fighting to rebuild the studio from scratch. Out of desperation I posted two articles on SOS 1 explaining I was looking for a hard disk recording solution as I couldn't find a similar PT TDM setup, whereby I received a donation of an alesis HD24 from a chap in the USA. from there, I posted an article which explained the reality of what had happened, top to bottom and from November onwards, different people including individuals and companies both here in the UK and USA have helped where they can to get this studio running again. Companies including Soundcraft, JBL Professional, Tascam amongst others helping where they can, supporters and well wishers helping to get things on the way.
The studio is about 80% working. A friend and contact helped me out by finding a site that houses software for mac os 9 and at the same time, someone has provided me with a full copy of ProTools TDM 5.1.3 ready for use.
I'm in the process of sorting out a G3 or G4 based mac to get things off the ground but this leaves me in a position where I now need some help and support and I hope someone here can help me with that.
What I need to do is find the following:
either a complete G3 / G4 based ProTools Mix TDM system or the PCI MIX TDM Core and mix farm cards, cables and 888 or 882 boards to get a system running again. As TDM 5 offers me what I need without the stress of a modern setup and retraining, as well as the stress of a digital console for automation and plugin editing, the old TDM 5 based setup works how I've always been used to it.
If anyone can help, please can you get in touch. I don't have funds available so am asking if anyone who has anything that can be used to rebuild a TDM system, would you consider donating?
I'm including a link to the SOS article, however SOS forums are down for the moment for maintenance.
