Fast Track Solo and PT11 crossgrade...

Hi All,

My first post on here!

For many years I have been envious of Pro Tools users to say the least. I elected many moons ago to use another DAW and, mostly due to the cost of numerous upgrades etc, until now I have stuck with it.

However my local music shop is offering a very good deal at the moment on a Fast Track Solo device that comes bundled with Pro Tools 10 and an iLock. They are also offering a crossgrade option to instantly allow the purchase of pro Tool 11.

My questions about this are as follows:

Is this a "legitimate" upgrade path? I seriously do not want to be enticed into a devious way of purchasing Pro Tools 11 and any unintended consequences. So are there any pitfalls with this method? Limitations on use etc? I already have several soundcards so I wont actually need the Fast Track solo (Scarlett 18i20 is my preferred one at present) so will it work with these?

The store are also saying that the crossgrade purchase will also allow free upgrade to Pro Tools 12! Is this/ can this be true?

The package contains an iLock. Are there different versions of this? Will this one work or will I need a more modern iLock?

As I have said I would like to start with Pro Tools after all of these years but only on a proper starting point. I have no wish to become involved with any backhand or devious methods that cause me problems in the long run or cost me money!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Gary
