Pro Tools 11 hangs on macbook internal sound

I've been living with this issue for awhile and though I'd bring it up to the community. When working in Pro Tools 10 or 11 on the internal sound card for a while I get the pinwheel of death for about 30-40 seconds. I get just enough time to save & quit before it hangs again. Reboot seems to fix the issue for a while but it always comes back. The problem doesn't happen when using an interface like 003 rack or mbox pro (thankfully since it doing that in front of clients would be unacceptable) but when I'm at home editing or mixing it can be a real distraction and creativity killer.



Does anyone have any thoughts about how to fix this?
