Processor upgrade?

I have an early 2009 MacPro 2 x 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC and I'm considering upgrading the processors via OWC to 2 x 3.33GHz Quad-Core 'Nehalem' (Intel X5590,8-Cores,QPI: 6.4GT/s) and 64 GB RAM.

Would this give me substantial and sufficient speed and performance increase? I'm working with HDX, PT 11, lots of plugs and especially many VI. I'm weighing this solution over a new Apple Mac Pro 3.5GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 64GB RAM, looking at the basic processing performance without the other considerations--SSD, TB2, PCIe chassis, external drives, etc.

Thanks for your thoughts!
