Apologies, I know these questions get asked again and again, but I've searched the forum up and down, and as far as I can tell I've got everything set up correctly, but still I've hit a dead end. And I'm still new to Pro Tools in general. Hopefully this all will make sense.
I'm trying to send a MIDI sequence I composed in the MIDI editor out to a hardware synth (in this case my Roland JX-3P), and then record the results on an audio track. The frustrating thing is that I've done this before in the past with no problems, but today it has stopped working.
I'm using a Roland UM-ONE USB MIDI Interface. Basically a USB cable with two MIDI connectors at the other end, one IN and one OUT. The IN connector of the UM-ONE is connected to the MIDI IN on the JX-3P. The OUT connector is connected to the OUT on the JX-3P. Naturally.
The MIDI track I/O is, as far as I can tell as a sane person, set up correctly:
The IN is set to: Predefined > UM-ONE > all channels.
The OUT is set to: Predefined > UM-ONE > channel-1.
I have the audio track record enabled. I can hear the synth when I play it myself. I even see that MIDI is being sent back from the synth because the levels on the MIDI track in Pro Tools jump as I play.
But the synth is NOT receiving the MIDI info from Pro Tools. The MIDI sequence does not trigger the synth. When I open the MIDI editor and hit the keys in the editor using my mouse there is no response either.
I also tried this exact set-up with my MicroKorg, wondering if there was a problem with my JX-3P, but still nothing.
I'm hoping that I'm just currently brain-dead and forgetting to do something obvious, because I've recorded plenty of synth this way in the past. But now, nothing.
Pro Tools 10.3.5
MacPro running OS X 10.7.5

Thank you.
