Apogee vs Audient a/d converters?

A question for anyone who has experience of both :)

My studio uses a pair of Apogee AD16's (via two 192digital interfaces) to give 32 inputs into PTHD.

These are the original AD16's (not AD16x), & one of them has just developed a fault on the first 8 inputs.

So, my choices are pretty much

A) Buy another used AD16, slot it in & get back to work (not that keen, as they are so old now)

B) Buy a used AD16x, slot it in & get back to work with hopefully improved A/D conversion

C) Buy an Audient ASP880/ASP008 & use it in place of the 8 channels that are down, & get 8 preamps thrown in.

It's really option C that i'm asking about most. I've always been interested to try one of these units, but personally don't know anyone else using one, so I'm really asking for opinions on the sound of the Pre's & the A/D conversion.

My reference points of gear that I own are, varying numbers of Neve 1073DPA, Focusrite Green range, Drawmer 1960, & TL Audio EQ1. I've had these feeding into my AD16's.

I am in my old age however, starting to lean back towards better solid state pres, rather than valve gear.

So, would in anyones opinion, the ASP880 straight in my 192digital give me good results? Would it sound at least as good as the Focusrite green/apogee combo?

cheers !
