Constrain vertical movment when editing

heres one for you guys...i use the magic mouse to scroll left and right on the timeline, with a swipe of my finger. my problem is, the track i'm working on gets skewed up or down when i swipe.....is there anyway to stop or constrain the edit screen track movement in the vertical, so when i swipe, it just goes left or right? does this make sense? tia...
