Hello
I opened this thread because I noticed Avid got some problems with stocks few months ago and that made me realize we could get in trouble if Pro Tools stop existing or if someone buys Avid.. because when the team changes, you know, it is much easier it gets worst (looking what happened to other software or brands like Akai etc)
So I wanted just to say: Avid I Love You!
I love Pro Tools, it is the only DAW I used that actually makes sense from a mixing, recording, point of view.
I hate it because of bugs, strange behavior, stuff missing, etc.. but I reckon Avid is putting a lot of effort into it
But I also understand that when you don't exactly know what should be improved or what PT users are missing and you obsess on the fact that you have to become more competitive otherwise things are going bad.. you don't see things clearly and it is very easy to do things that are not needed, not requested and forget to solve other problems or add more important features etc.
In my opinion I think PT shouldn't become "like Logic" only because Logic is the competitor that's giving you troubles.. and I think Avid tried a bit to do that since PT8
In my opinion PT should take completely off every VI, sample libraries, and anything that's not related to mixing/recording/editing and be a very good platform to accept third party plug ins and VI (you cannot beat Logic on that and I believe differentiation is the key)
In my opinion Avid should work a lot with their customers (not only beta testers, because customers are the ones that can find the craziest things happening and are also the ones that care the most that those things gets resolved because it affects their work and their mind sanity)
So.. I don't know.. I'm opening this thread to collect ideas, positive things, support to Avid and to tell Avid to trust their customers and to work together with them
So, my first proposition to Avid is to start a sort of customer care service that works only on line.. with tickets, for any PT owner (not only HD), so they can follow every of their customer till the problem they are reporting is solved.. and doing this I think Avid will be able to fix most if not all PT bugs etc..
I know it could seem a kind of dumb thing, but I'm really experiencing very positive results dealing with a company who does exactly that, their software and products are top notch because of that, so I really think a company could learn a lot from their customers...
Plus well I have, but I bet we all have, a LOT of ideas to make PT much more competitive compared to il-Logic or anything else for that matter.. so I'd like to help Avid.. Avid, tell me how could I help you (except with my wallet which is very very limited :P)
Lot of Love for Avid!!!
