DDP Export in Pro Tools?

Do you think it will ever happen?

Some of my statements may hit some nerves for a few people. Respectfully I apologies if any full time mastering guys don't like this.

In todays recording and production world the lines between mixing and mastering are continually blurring. I seem to get projects of both types equally. Id love to dedicate my room to either pure mixing or a pure mastering room, but Im not in the position to turn down work. Most bands I work with just assume that im "The Guy" and don't understand they have to pay even more just for mastering, so I don't even go down that road. My mixes come out 90% there, they just need some slight EQ matching and final few DB of limiting.

Its a pain to master in Pro tools then use CD archect or DSP quattro to create the disk.

Sure would be cool if you could arrange a CD, input ISRC, PQ and other coding and just export a DDP to send to duplication all within Pro Tools.

Maybe one day.

Just to reiterate I am not saying that true, dedicated mastering is not necessary or needed. It certainly is. I would love to have the budget to send my mixes to a high end mastering engineer, but the funds just are not there. I work within budgets of anywhere to 1 to 3 thousand. So I in turn have to wear two hats.
