Mackie Onyx 1620i and Pro Tools 10

Having problems getting the 1620i set as default in the i/o setting. It shows up in playback engine but when I select it in the i/o section, the default button isn't available to me. I have a an Aluminum Macbook Pro core 2 duo 2.2, 6 gigs of ram 240 gig SSD OSX 10.6.8.. I just purchased PT 10 from ebay and have the iLoc. Had support tell me I was not eligible for any updates or upgrades because the software will not be registered in my name. OK, my bad but there still has to be a way to fix this issue. I'd appreciate any help I get.
