Like many here I have multiple computers so my daw Mac doesn't have to pull multiple duties. I have a Mac Mini running OSX 10.6.8 that is my internet machine as well as my Photoshop workhorse. Even this one if I don't need anything from the net I disconnect the Ethernet cable.
An odd thing started happening a couple of months back. Sometimes when I boot up the computer or even when I change user accounts I get a message on screen saying something to the effect that I'm still running an old version of OSX and prompting me to update to Mavericks. This happens even when disconnected from the net. I have no wish or reason to move to Mavericks on this computer as there are several programs I use that require Rosetta (they're not universal binaries). I have automatic updates turned off (always have done so on all my systems). The message looks like an official Apple message but we all know such things can be faked.
I'm writing to ask if anyone else has run into this, on a Mac running any version of OSX other than Mavericks. Also I've not gotten this message on my daw iMac either.
