I realise this may be an Akai problem, this has been posted on their support forum also but I thought the people here would be just as knowledgeable if not more. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post.
So, I have an EIE Pro. One of the deciding factors was that it came with Pro Tools Express. I've installed everything and Pro Tools wont work, it will sometimes play but the sound is kind of like it's gone through a bit crusher or something. I have got it to work for about 5 minutes or so a couple of times but it soon went back to the weird noises. What usually happens is I open a project, add a click track and press play. Then it blurts out a kind of digital fart (it's the click track playing but distorted) and then stops, I can see the stop button flash too.
I've tried old drivers and the newest ones. I've tried every combination of bit depth and sample rate for the projects in PTE. Everything on the PC is 100% up to date. I've done the avid optimisation guide too, no luck. I've set everything up perfectly as per the instructions and it's always the same.
I even ordered 4gb of RAM to upgrade from 2GB because PTE kept mentioning it to me.
The EIE Pro works 100% perfectly and wonderfully in Cubase LE5 and Reaper though, and everything else I've tried it on.
Sandra:
I realise it's not going to be a super Pro Tools machine but I really only have a virtual drummer and 3-5 recorded audio tracks when I record songs in cubase/reaper so I kind of hoped it would handle PTE.
Any help would be appreciated!
