years ago i got pro tools 6 and the digi 001 and for years i was happy. two years ago i decided to upgrade and i have only had frustration since. i am hoping one of you, who are so much more technically advanced than i, will be able to figure out my problem.
since the day i purchased pro tools 10 and the mbox pro 3, i have had nothing but problems. and as bad as things were, they just continuously get worse. the minute i boot up i have no sound coming out of the mbox. after much trial and error i am able to get the system working by uninstalling the mbox, uninstalling pro tools, re installing the mbox and re installing pro tools. oh and i have to repair permissions or it still will not work.
this was a way to get the system to work but obviously it was a horrible way to have to get the system to work. if i had an idea i wanted to lay down, by the time i did all these procedures the idea was long gone.
yet i have been living with it because i felt i had no other choice. searching the forums led me to find out than many have this problem but not one thread on one forum had a solution.
when i first installed the system two years ago the techs at avid took remote control of my computer and still had trouble installing it. the problem then wasn't solved and they knew it but they cut me off when they felt they had given me enough support and, if i wanted more, i would have to pay for it.
it is an infuriating situation because, as i wrote them, why would i pay for them to solve a problem when they had been working on it and couldn't solve the problem.
anyway like i said, i have been living with this horrible way to start working.. i just got used to it. but lately there has been another problem thrown in. as soon as i go through my whole ritual in order to actually use pro tools, i know get an error message saying there is a cpu overload and i would have to turn off some of the plug ins. these are songs that had been playing fine with the plug ins i had. but just to make sure i created a track with only one track and one plug in, a click track. and still i get this error message.
i am totally stuck. i cannot make music. either there is no sound coming out or i cannot even figure out if sound is coming out since the error will not allow me to push play on the transport.
i am not a tech head so it is real hard on me. the knowledge i do have is just because it was a means to an end. i had to learn these things in order to record. seriously i feel like giving up on making music. i cannot afford anything or i would buy a new interface. so i am in limbo
the whole joy of making music is gone. i am only left frustrated. never mind the joy of making music, i just can't make music. if any of you have any ideas it would be so greatly appreciated. i am longing for the day i can just turn the computer on and start working.
thank you in advance
