PT 11 + MacBook Pro (OSX10.9.4)+ digi003

I'm making a jump to OSX 10.9.4 and a MacBook Pro 16 gig ram and digi003. The compatibility isn't their of course with osx 10.5.6 being 32bit and 10. This is my first foray into MacBook Pro land with protools.

Do I need to buy both pt 10 and 11? What's the best approach to sw for using a digi003 with the MacBook Pro?

And the adapter for FireWire was a bit of a contemplation. I've seen some good feedback. But I hate trusting a few k worth of gear on a stupid connector.

I know I'll have to get a fw 800 to 400 cable so I'm not keen with losing data transfer. Is there a pt interface that has a 64 bit compatible? It would be nice to get 16 channels in for mobile tracking. But I have no sessions in the next few weeks so I can sort this out.

I have terra bites of audio files and previous session in pt8 and pt7. I assume i will be able to import and convert to 64 bit but I'm concerned about 1) loosing plugins 2) preserving 32bit session files for some studios I work in - is there a save feature that allows one to save a 32 bit version?

It's an ugly trade off between 64 bit and plugins but from what I've read it'sorth it in the long run. My immediate goal is to determine what PT VERSION to acquire and at least use the digioo3 console interface. Then I can offload my g5, g304, and yes g3 I supposed. Those old tanks, the g3 has never failed in all my years.

Please respond with proactive solutions..
