Akai MPD18 on Windows 7 FIX

Hi folks.

There are some issues when trying to get the alleged "plug and play" USB device the Akai MPD18 working with Windows 7 64-bit.

The following solution will work:

Installing MPD18 on Windows 7.

This device has no drivers as it is a plug-and-play device. This means it is class compliant. However, there are some glitches with Windows 7.

To install, do the following:

1. Plug the device into an available USB slot.

2. Click on the Hardware and Removable Media in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

3. Open devices.

4. Double click on the Akai MPD18 device.

5. Select the hardware tab at the top and click Akai MPD18 in the list

There should be a yellow triangle displayed telling you the device isn’t working.

6. Select “Update driver” and then “Browse for driver software on your computer”.

7. Select the C: Drive from the drop down menu and make sure “Include subfolders” is ticked.

8. It may take a little while so be patient

9. Select “Install this driver software anyway” when it tells you that the driver is untrusted.

Now the device will be working properly.
