Its always been my rule not to just go "cranking up" the gain on my pre-amp. However, the booth in my studio is still awaiting the general contractors' completion so, it isn't as treated as it will be when he is able to fits my job in his busy schedule. Needless to say, when I record a soft-spoken female rapper, using my standard mic-ing techniques, there are no peaks present unless I "crank" the gain on my pre-amp, adjust either the trim clip gain or gain, or normalize drastically. Which as you can figure, make ambient noise a issue but I have no problem achieving good vocal tracks with the male rappers that typically frequent my studio.
Does anyone have any "tips or tricks" for recording a soft-spoken female rapper? Any and all suggestions are welcome....
I was thinking maybe a reflection filter:confused:
