Upgrade

Hello protools gods! Noob here...i searched avid website,diff forums for an answer but my case is diff...i ran sonar 8 without an external hard drive n also pt express with no problem...i dont use alot of tracks or effects plugins...i just basically now only want to record an ep 5-6 songs...i record my tracks into protools from my mv8000 n record vocals straight into protools...just upgraded to protools 11...my pc is bare n only used for music...question is can i still run protools 10/11 without an external hard drive even though one is recommended? If so is there a link to purchase a good one for around $75?...I looked at wd caviar black on amazon but it looks like its internal without a case....would like to purchase one with a case if i have to at all...n i see mixed statements on wether the ilok1 will work with protools 10 on the prottools 10/11
