While working in a session, CPU randomly starts spiking. Jumps from normal (say, 20-30%, to fluttering around randomly spiking at 100 to floating up and down from 80% or so - constantly floating back up to spike
Ok, been trying to troubleshoot this for a couple days... this happens within around 30 minutes of a reboot or fresh boot - any session
What has changed since this started:
Updated from PTHD 11.1.2 to 11.2.1 (And to 11.2.2 in hopes of resolving
Current status: PTHD11.2.2 on 10.9.5
Waves plugs, but no changes to that since it started
SO. ANY session, any buffer, any cache, delay comp on or off, dynamic processing on or off
Once it starts, it will do it even at idle - ONLY with a session open
Idling without a session open it does not spike
System monitor does not show significantly higher CPU load when PT does this (CPU load per core does not spike, slightly higher but not substantially)
What I've tried:
moving all plugs except Waveshells, Avid, AIR to UNUSED - persists
trashed all prefs - persists
opened old sessions from years ago - persists
created new session, imported session data - persists
Turned off automatic check/download of updates - persists
WiFi turned off - persists
I am using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse - disabled keyboard - persists
(Not sure how I'd test turing it off completely, how would I get it back on? lol)
Can create a new session, with a couple audio tracks, loop play - no issues
I'm racking my brain... nothing coming to mind.
Once it starts, Seems completely random as far as when it happens, and intervals, are concerned.
Sometimes acts normal for a few minutes.... others it hangs nearly constantly.
happening every minute or so once it starts - sometimes immediately, sometimes takes maybe 10 minutes to start
Once it starts, it is fairly consistently persistent
What do I do?? Lost on this one. Install 11.1.3? It's available in my downloads
Any ideas on this one?
As I've been typing this, the session has been hanging at 100%. And just freed up about a couple minutes ago and has been playing fine - but... as I've seen for the last couple days. It will come back
First major issues I've had with may in about 4 years. First time I've actually had to troubleshoot anything :(
Help!?
