ProTools LE and MIDI I/O interface

Is there a way to get Pro Tools LE to start up by recognizing the Digidesign MIDI I/O as a qualified interface?

I was hoping to hook up the MIDI I/O to my antique Mac G5 (pre Intel) running Mac OSX 10.4.11 and PT LE 7.4. I know, it's ancient, but I just want to connect the MIDI I/O to my rack of synths and use PT for MIDI sequencing only. When I'm ready to record the audio output, I'd roll in my rack with a Digi 002, my MacIntel MacBook Pro, and PT 8 (my studio rig), play the MIDI sequence on the G5, and record the the synthesizers' audio output with the MacBook.

The Mac G5/PT LE system works fine when I Firewire it to the Digi 002 interface. But I don't want to tear down the studio every time I want to fool around with MIDI in my office!

So, again -- when PT LE starts up, is there a way to trick it into recognizing the MIDI I/O as a legitimate interface?
