remote operation of PT

I've brought this up a few times in the past. I need to be able to run my DAW remotely. All of my recording gear, including the computer, mouse and monitor are in one room. There are times I need to be out in the other room and need to press play, record, etc. Putting a "workstation" of another keyboard, monitor and mouse in the other room would be great, but for some reason it is much more expensive than doing the opposite - it's cheap to have two computers hooked to one monitor etc, but pretty costly to have two sets of monitors, keyboard hooked to one computer... can't figure out why either. Seems like that would be pretty easy. Anywaysss...

I found this: http://ift.tt/1sjsqB6

Looks interesting, but I totally do not get how it would work. I have my studio PC wired to my router, but the router is also wifi. How would this app talk to my computer? Would the signal somehow go from the phone to the router via wifi, then somehow make it down the LAN cable to the studio computer? That doesn't seem plausible without some more software or know-how. Or, would I need to put a wifi receiver on my studio PC? (not something I want to do since wireless receivers don't always get along with PT).

Anyone have any ideas or have tried anything similar? I just don't get how it works.
