'Pro Tools is not working.' - Message on open then computer freezes. (V. 10.3.8)

My windows version of Pro Tools 10.3.8 crashes when I open a file. The error message, 'Pro Tools has stopped working' pops up and Pro Tools won't close. I then try and force close Pro Tools, and this crashes the computer.

This problem has never happened before.

Steps leading to this problem: - I was working on video session, when the interface started going buggy (mixer popping up and down, interface popping up and down, both windows making themselves small, screen revealing itself with mouse movements.) - I restarted Pro Tools and opened up that session to check it was okay. That was fine. I then opened up a different session I was working on that day and that's when problem started happening.

Other points are: - I have performed a recent virus update and scanned it. - I have recently de-fragged my computer.

Could anyone please offer some advice for a fix?
