Out of the Ashes

Greetings all. I have a Pro Tools 8 HD3 system that has been untouched since 2011. I sold off the old style (focus rite pres) Control 24 that I used to run it on. I have not used any of the equipment in years but I am looking to setup a project studio again. I still have some solid apogee converters and mic pres. I am not sure what interfaces are compatible these days. I do not want to run with something as large as the control 24 as I don't have the space for it. I have an old digi002 but I'm pretty sure that will only work with LE stuff... Right? It's been a while. Anyway... Please forgive my ignorance as I've been out of the game for years. A few questions: How can I take advantage of the HD3 system at this point? Am I stuck with pro tools 8 or can these cards run the newer versions? My Mac Pro HDD was fried so I'll be getting a new one along with whatever OS is recommended. Any help that anyone might be able to offer will be greatly appreciated.
