I just picked up an additional 16GB of RAM to put in my 2008 Mac Pro (Early 2008) 2x2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8 cores). It had had 12 GB and I kinda thought increasing it wouldn't do much. I was wrong. Now that it has 26 GB I'm noticing a significant improvement, namely - less crapping out at lower buffer settings. If you're in a similar situation, consider spending a little money to check it out - RAM is cheap!
