I (like many others apparently) am suffering the mBox Mini failure. It was working perfectly one day, and then I shut everything down (safely) for the weekend because there were to be electrical storms and I come back to find the blue light glowing on the mBox but no recognition by Pro Tools OR the computer. The mBox 3rd Gen at work does this all the time (except it flashes blue) and I can fix by quitting Pro Tools and unplugging the interface- No fix there.
I tried multiple USB ports- No fix.
Cable- No fix.
Alternate power source to check phantom indicators- no fix NO PHANTOM indicator.
Alternate computer at work- no fix.
Uninstall/reinstall drivers of multiple versions- no fix.
Try to install on alternate operating system (10.10.1)- no fix.
Not necessarily in that order, mind you.
I then searched multiple forums and found a large amount of users who experienced the same symptoms in both Windows and Mac systems. The single person I saw with a happy result was under warranty and Avid asked them to send in the unit when the +48V indicator would not illuminate. They got a replacement. So where does that leave the rest of us who are outside of warranty? Seems like a massive defect in the Mini and grounds for a recall/class action suit if you ask me... but then again I'm upset right now.
