I received this message from my local Avid dealer, they say they did receive this message from Avid:
Starting Monday, March 23, Pro Tools 12 will be available for purchase as a monthly or annual subscription, as standalone software (perpetual license), as part of a Pro Tools hardware/software system, and as a software upgrade/crossgrade through an Avid upgrade plan, giving customers more choice in how they acquire and use Pro Tools.
Once on Pro Tools 12, customers will have access to all future Pro Tools upgrades released, either throughout the duration of their subscription or through an active Avid upgrade plan for perpetual license owners. Please note that while new Pro Tools software purchases and upgrades/crossgrades include a one-year plan, renewable annually, some Pro Tools hardware/software system purchases do not, so customers will need to purchase an upgrade plan separately to keep their software current. Plus, they can sign up to gain early access to the upcoming Avid Cloud Collaboration for Pro Tools features.
Entitlements for Licenses Sold Without an Annual Upgrade Plan
All Pro Tools and Pro Tools | HD 11 software sold without an annual upgrade plan (both stand-alone software and software bundled in a system) that gets activated starting January 22, 2015 will receive authorizations for versions 10, 11, and 12. Customers purchasing these products without an annual upgrade plan are eligible to purchase one separately through December 31, 2015.
