2 strange Group behaviors. Please help! Thanks!

Hi-

I have Auxes that are group linked to other channels for Solo/Mute commands.

I do not need to see the aux channels in my Mixer as they have no practical function and just take up space.

However, when i hide them they do not respond to the grouped commands , such as solo.

Also, Mute function does not work on said groups: when i hit Mute on one of the tracks in the group, the corresponding Aux channel within that group does not go into Mute...

Am i doing something wrong?
