Today at Avid Connect 2015, we announced some important product announcements and an update on what was discussed at NAMM that I wanted you to be aware of.
Avid Connect Announcements
1. VENUE | S6L—The next stage in live sound
Avid introduces the flagship VENUE | S6L live sound mixing system, enabling audio professionals to easily handle the largest, most complex tours and events. VENUE | S6L builds upon the strengths of its system predecessors, which changed the live performance industry. Now reborn in a more powerful and modular solution, S6L offers unprecedented processing capabilities, delivers unrelenting performance and reliability through its advanced engine design, and backs it up with modern touchscreen workflows and scalability to take on the world’s most demanding tours and events with ease. S6L will be available in the second half of 2015.

2. The New Sibelius—The fastest, smartest, easiest way to write music
Avid introduces the new Sibelius, the latest version of the world’s most popular music composition software, giving composers more choice over how they acquire and use their tools, create music scores, and collaborate with others. Sibelius will now be available through a monthly or annual subscription, available later this quarter, as well as through the traditional perpetual license. And it’s designed to accommodate new requirements for both the mobile classroom and the mobile lifestyles of the next generation. The new Sibelius is coming later in Q2 2015.

3. Media Composer | First—Your road to the red carpet
Announcing Media Composer | First, like Pro Tools | First - this is a completely free version of Media Composer. This “First” edition of our industry-leading non–linear editor will make it possible for ANY aspiring visual storyteller to begin their journey to the top using many of the same tools used by the world’s top video, television, and film editing professionals. Media Composer | First will be available later this year.
4. Pro Tools | S6 Master Joystick Module
This master module is an option for Pro Tools | S6 systems and offers dual non-motorized, touch-sensitive joysticks for surround sound mixing, enabling sound to be positioned anywhere within a room. The module also features a 3.2-inch TFT display, four OLED displays, two encoders, 16 panning mode switches, and other switches for controlling positioning, divergence, and more. The S6 Master Joystick Module will be available in Q4 of 2015.
We’re delivering on what we promised with Avid Everywhere and the innovation continues. We’re opening the Avid ecosystem to EVERYONE and the industry is joining us and seeing the benefits of being on the platform.
Artist Suite: At NAMM 2015, just a couple of months ago, we announced the next set of innovations for the Artist suite and Avid Marketplace.
1. We announced Pro Tools 12 – with subscription and cloud delivery options just like we did last year for Media Composer 8.0. Since the launch of Media Composer 8.0 we now have delivered upwards of 70 features to the product as we said we would – Media Composer 8.3.1 is the currently shipping version with more to come.
2. We announced cloud collaboration as a platform service, one of the most exciting and requested capabilities out there, where artists can work together collaboratively in the cloud. Remember, anyone who is certified can use this service…as long as their app allows it.
3. We inaugurated our “First” line of artist products – starting with the first FREE version of Pro Tools – called Pro Tools | First which opens the gates to everyone - giving EVERYONE the power to tell their story.
Avid Marketplace: we made 4 mind-bending additions – truly connecting the Avid ecosystem.

- Avid App Store - containing the latest certified plug-ins as direct downloads from within their creative tools.

- Content marketplace - where artists can post their finished video assets or audio session files for others to license in their productions – with all the rights agreements worked out.
