Hi folks,
So I've encountered this error on a few separate occasions. I'm a post-sound editorial assistant. Editors I've worked with have sound fx libraries containing 16 bit material that they import and use in their edit sessions without issue. Now, when I go to consolidate their edit session for Mix delivery or backup I get Protools saying that it can't find certain audio files that I've used on the timeline of my 24 bit project. On closer examination, the files are listed as 24 bit in the Project Browser, but looking at them in the workspace, the same files are listed as 16bit. I've found a workaround where I've re-imported these 16bit files into my session through the "import audio" window's convert function. I then, re-export this audio as 24bit using Export Clips as Files into my project audio files folder. Then in the Relink window, searching by Filename only will manage to relink the files and I'm good.
The first time I've seen this problem was going from ProTools 10.3.7 on MAC OS 10.6 to ProTools 10.3.7 on MAC OS 10.9.
The second time I was cutting a session splitting time with a ProTools 10.3 HD system on 10.8 and a ProTools 11.3 HD System also on 10.8.
Also, I'm fairly certain that Convert Copied Files to Session Format was checked in every instance. And I've tried importing files with Force to Target Session selected. That did not help either.
Has anyone else ever encountered this or know of a method that converts the 16 bit files to 24 bit properly in the first place so ProTools is able to find them. Does this sound like a bug to anyone else?
Thanks
