Pro Tools Saas Parallel

Hello All,

After spending the last 8 years in the Photography Profession, it's funny i now see the same argument and pushback going on about the subscription model for Pro Tools.

Adobe Photoshop CS6 was the last perpetual license version for Photoshop. It's the version i had. For me, i was leaving the business anyway. So it'll be my last version. However, if i were to continue in that field, i would have signed up for their subscription service "Creative Cloud a.k.a 'CC'".

What Adobe is doing... only offering new features for CC, but still providing bug fixes for CS6 and some previous versions was a great transition.

Everyone, myself included, threw up our arms about the CC (Saas) model, but to be honest, it's truly the way of the future. There will be resistance, but all Avid has to do is look at Adobe and their success with CC and use that as a model on the transition to their own flavor of Saas.

Nobody is going stem the tide of this change. People simply need to adapt and move on.

What is on Avid's plate however, is an extremely strong showing for new useful features and even stronger bug fixing. If they don't execute this carefully, they do run the risk of losing a lot of users.

It'll be interesting to see what the next year holds. It seems crucial.
