Recently moved to PT 11 HD mainly for using Kontakt orchestral libraries more freely. I'm on PT HD 11.3.1, Macpro 2010 8-Core 2.24 GHz, 32 GB Ram, Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite, Kontakt 5.4 all latest updates done.
After using 4-5 Kontakt instances with 2-8 patches each one (totally used RAM by ProTools approx 8-10 Gb, showed in Activity Monitor), ProTools starts to go in spinning wheel mode when I save and reload the session, or try to go in play mode, etc. I have to Force quit and restart PT.
I can create a new session, load the Kontakt instances one by one (in no particular order), and after the 3rd/4rth one the spinning wheel again...:mad::mad:
I tried the usual TS (preferences, permissions, etc.). I'm using the following settings in Kontakt : no multiprocessor, no load sample in background, no memory server.
The problem is solved if I use the purge function, so I suspect it's something related to how PT manages its RAM (it's new and I tested it, all ok), but I have always more than 10 Gb always free when this happens...
The only thing I can think of is maybe my 2 internal HD (Barracuda 7200 rpm) where the libraries reside only have 10% of the space free. Maybe this is the cause ?
Any ideas ? Thank you
