Weird FW driver issue

Hey all, talking about a PC that is a match to my specs below with a DIGI003 controller. When the Legacy FW driver is selected, the 003 works perfectly, but the computer keeps kicking the drive back to another of the 3 resident drivers on the system. I have tried 2 different(but compatible) FW cards and replaced the CMOS battery, but it still only works until the next boot. When you choose to change the driver(in Device Manager) you see an option to "uninstall driver", but that is a misnomer as it simply uninstalls(disables) the hardware. The driver never actually gets uninstalled, and I cannot find anything on the internet on how to really remove the unwanted drivers. Any Windows genius have any advice?:o
