Or is it really this bad of a train wreck?
I still don't see anything in the so called "vanilla" version that would make me switch over to Pro Tools from virtually any other software. Although I'm not turned off by the subscription model, and as an employee in higher learning, I'd actually be able to get it for very little, like I do with Adobe stuff. But I don't see anything that I really need.
HD still has some feature that I'd like to get my hands on... but I can't, or at least won't, since I don't need the hardware.
Regardless, that's just me. I have been looking on this site since I found out about 12, and I haven't seen a single positive thing. At best, the usual complete confusion while everyone tries to parse the meaning from what Avid is doing, planning to do, or has already done.
The other side seems to be open animosity and rebellion, and people either leaving the platform or threatening to. And a few people lamenting their inability to do so.
I could go on, I guess, but I have to wonder: are a lot of people actually happy with anything Avid has done here, and I'm just missing it? Or is the Pro Tools 12 release really met with the universal derision that this forum is filled with?
