Got an email from Blue about this promotion. I have never used any of the encore series, but I am really enamored with the way this company engineers and styles their microphones. They're not trying to emulate or compare their stuff to "vintage" and other well-loved microphones - which is what I really liked about KEL back when they still existed.
So I made an impulse buy, a pair of encore 200 "active dynamic" mics for $150. I usually don't buy things without trying them, so I'm going out on a limb. The 200 are supposedly very flattering on vocals compared to their competition (SM58, Heil PR22, and others) but apparently the handling noise is less than stellar.
Anyone have thoughts, praise, or cautionary tales about the encore series?
