Digi 003 Rack & PT11

Hey there,

Having some issues with my 003 Rack not connecting with PT11. Or if it does connect, it quits working in the middle of sessions.

Running a MacBook Pro, 2.2GHz, Intel Core i7 w/ 16GB RAM on Mavericks

Have the Avid 003 Family driver software installed (Version 11.1.3) so I know my drivers are up to date.

After doing much reading, I can see that the 003 Rack is certified for PT11 and that I have the correct drivers, which leads me to believe it's a firmware issue.

I tried doing the firmware update process (Holding Aux In -> 7/8 & Mute while powering up). My MIDI In/Out lights flash twice, then the HOST 1394 light starts flashing. According to the firmware update process, you are then to open up ProTools and you will see a dialogue box asking you if you would like to update the firmware. This box does not show up, and neither ProTools or the Avid 003 Family software recognizes my rack.

Is it possible to update the firmware on the 003 Rack with PT11? Or do I need to downgrade my computer OS and install PT10 to do this firmware upgrade?
