Send & Return for effects vs. adding it to the track...

Folks,

Just looking for thoughts and opinions on the above. I am new to PT and am learning the many different ways to tackle something and stumbled across this topic.

I do notice that reverb on a track is more intrusive on the signal as a whole while going through the send/receive allows me to not change the dry signal and add as much or as little reverb as i want... unless I'm just nuts and hearing things...

Thoughts? feelings? all are welcome.
