So, I've just upgraded my machine from Mac to Windows (8.1 to be precise).
I'm using 64-bit everything so decided I'd upgrade my system from PT10 to 11.3.1, expecting to have one hell of a change.
Well... It's slow, sluggish, unresponsive and down right unstable.
I've spent DAYS googling troubleshooting methods to no avail. I've followed all the troubleshooting and optimization recommendations as set out by AVID for Windows users (including a full system driver update) and I'm only seeing marginally better performance if at all.
What the hell is wrong? It was still fairly snappy on my Macbook, though old.
On top of that, my Scarlett 2i2 (USB 2.0 interface) is apparently not initialized correctly and whenever I try to play something regardless, the stop and play buttons flash and then it gives me another error message (can't recall what that is off the top of my head but will look if it's important). I'm waiting for a powered Firewire PCI card to arrive so I can use my Saffire Pro 40 but honestly I'm dreading it...
NOTE: Audio is otherwise working perfectly fine when using the interface to play Spotify, Use the inputs etc for Skype and when playing games
NOTE: I keep all my audio and leisure apps, games etc on two separate hard drives with back ups on an external.
I am sick of making minor adjustments in the BIOS and advanced power saving settings on my PC and getting know-where with the stability and performance of the programme.
System specs are as follows...
Windows 8.1
Pro Tools 11.3.1
All drivers are up to date
NOTE: I've tried deleting the recommended folder in programme files to force PT rebuild part of itself and that doesn't work either.
Motherboard: ASUS X99-A
Processor: Intel Core i7 5820k - 6 cores @ 3.3GHz (Turbo-mode ON, Intel Speed-Step OFF)
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 980 (4GB) clocked to 1.55MHz
Memory: Kingston Hyper-X Fury 16GB (8GBx2) @ 2133MHz
PLEASE HELP ME! :( I'm sure it shouldn't be running like this. Any advice is appreciated at this point, I'm at a dead end.
PS: I have tried installing PT10 also but that runs just as badly as PT11.
