So Pro tools was acting up and I finally figured out it was because I had never dumped my ram before. So I downloaded a MAC App that can clear up ram space and monitors my usage.
When I first downloaded the app I only had 18mb of ram free, so obviously thats why PT was sucking
By the looks of it, out of the 16gb of ram I have, 5-6 is constantly being used and 11gb of that is file cache.
I dumped all my file cache and everything started acting good again. Now I'm just curious how often I should be dumping? Are there any downfalls from dumping too often? My plugin has an auto dump function, when would you set it to auto reset if you would?
Lately ive been dumping it every time it goes below 8 but I started thinking, I never used to do it this much nor did I have to do it at all until recently.. So maybe I dont need to be/shouldnt be doing it as much as I am? It seems to go down from 10 free to 8 free pretty quickly then it floats.
