Hello,
First off, I don't have enough knowledge on the operation of SATA, SSD, HDD, etc....
What I'd like advice on which kind to use with what application.
I have one open SATA3 port and 3 open SATA2 ports. I also have an open mSATA slot on the motherboard which is SATA2.
I need to pick up a disk or card to hold my Virtual Instruments such as BFD3 and Superior Drummer 2 and I'd like to upgrade my current drive holding my Pro Tools audio. My OS resides on a 256GB SSD. My PT sessions are on a 1TB HDD.
So, would it make more sense putting VI's on a SSD or HDD? Does SATA2 or 3 make a substantial difference? How about the mSATA card slot? Would that be a great choice for the VI's even though it is only SATA2?
How about the Pro Tools audio? Would HDD or SSD be better? Same goes with SATA2 or 3.
I look forward to hearing from everyone. Thanks in advance!
