I'm getting ready to install Pro tools 10.3 and am just trying to make sure I make all of the correct optimizations as to avoid any system errors before they happen.
As per the Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Optimizations and Troubleshooting page: http://ift.tt/1Puzyaf
it states: Software Update
Some updates to your Mac software can cause conflicts with Pro Tools. Disabling this will prevent your computer from automatically updating. If there is an update that you need, you can manually update your Mac software...
I just made a clean install of Mountain Lion 10.8.5 purchased from the Apple Store and I already know I need to update Safari. Aside from anything totally obvious like application updates I'm not sure if I will "know" what other updates to manually install. If I manually check for updates I can see the Safari update plus a few more including some security updates available for download.
I'm new to Mac, but if it's anything like Windows, then I should expect to download the slew of updates, restart my computer, find more updates, download them, restart, etc... By the end of it I may end up with quite a few updates, where if Pro Tools starts acting funky it would be difficult to tell (for me at least) to know which of the how many ever was the culprit.
Should I be avoiding certain updates that are known to cause issues, or should I update everything and just take it as it comes?
