Anyone else concerned that this position is now help by someone who at first glance has NO music or creative industry experience.
Cloud Collaboration for accounting seems to be the focus of the last place...
Oh well... To me the writing is on the wall as the focus of leadership has changed to something that seems not all that important to most of us... Collaborative cloud workflows...
I've said it a over a year ago when Avid first announced this feature...
ROCKET NETWORK.
Sad part is that most likely The people who sit in the board room probably have no idea this collaborative workflow was implemented and worked. and failed...
Hey, maybe I'm old and don't see the future of this technology for how useful it will be in the future, that could very well be true.
My concern is not they they added a cool new feature, but that the concept seems to have overtaken the mindset of the company.
We see this in that its NOT ready yet (cause it seems most of the folks who brainchild the idea left - to gobbler and the lawsuit that ensued is still going i believe, of an how that ruined gobbler's functionality and easy of sending files so far is clear to anyone using v2 coming from v1 - but i digress...) So they release some already there HD features to Pro Tools users to keep them happy, while scrambling to delivery what they have been touting as the next big thing.
Anyway, its the extreme focus on this marketplace stuff that is being touted and a corporate direction as the main focus is what has me worried...
Maybe in a few years Ill eat my words cause I'm using the cloud crap for something that makes me more productive and or more money...
Not sure I'l make it that long with the upgrade prices and feature set rivaled by just about all competitors - for me in a non commercial environment where my clients hire me for my music creation, they don't care if i use pro tools..
Anyway, Rant over...
