Hi, I am planning on upgrading my mac an pro tools and need help choosing the right computer for best performance.
I'm still using Pro Tools 9 on a 2009 iMac.
I want to upgrade to Pro Tools 12 and a new mac.
I'm considering buying a Macbook Pro ou an iMac. Of course the Macbook Pro is more portable, but I want the computer that has the best performance matched with Pro Tools 12.
I record most blues and classic rock music. Almost always real instruments. Sometimes I do also live shows recordings, usually in small venues.
My interface is an Antelope Audio Zen Studio (USB) and I use an Universal Audio UAD-2 Quad firewire DSP for plugins. UAD, Slate Digital, PSP, Nomad Factory, IK Mutimedia and Waves plugins.
What would be the best computer for me considering best performance and compatibility?
SPECS:
- 2015 MacBook Pro Retina MJLT2 - Intel i7 Core, RAM 16GB, SSD 512 GB, Thunderbolt 2, Graphics Card AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2GB, Retina screen 15.4"
- 2015 iMac Retina 5K MK482 - Intel i5 Quad Core, RAM 8GB, HD Fusion Drive 2TB, Graphics Card AMD Radeon 2GB, Retina Screen 27"
