New Delay Comp Problem?

I'm punching in....During the pre-roll, the track i'm set to record to is playing back very early. In the past, this problem would disappear when i'd de-activate native plugins on the master buss.
Now that is not happening.
My hardware buffer is at 256.

What am i doing wrong?
(i've trashed prefs, I've turned off and on "delay com" in the options menu)
