Hi, folks.
I've had my Command 8 for years, and until yesterday, it was working PERFECTLY on my cheesegrater Mac Pro, Mavericks latest version, and PT 12.3.1 Native. I was moving some stuff around in the studio, which caused the Command 8 to power up and down a few times, but I didn't think anything of it - just a loose AC cord. But now the Command 8 is not recognized by Pro Tools, and the USB light (just above and to the right of the "Stand Alone" button) doesn't come on, ever, not in regular mode OR stand-alone mode. My Mac Pro sees an unrecognized USB device, so I don't THINK the USB port has been fried. The machine boots up as normally as I can ever remember it being too. I've opened it up and can see no evidence of scorching or shorting or things being blown up. I've tried to redo the firmware, but the machine I hooked it up to (a PowerPC because the firmware installer won't run on Intel Macs:p)doesn't see a Command 8 to install to, although it DOES see an "unconfigured device".
I'm wondering if there's a way to do a real hard reset on the thing - maybe something got stuck on and off with the on and off of moving stuff and now the firmware is a little weird?
