"freeze up to this plugin" using a Kensington trackball

Does anyone know how to do the "freeze up to this plugin" feature? I can't seem to figure out how? Using a Kensington trackball here, and I've assigned my buttons to key commands, so I'm wondering if it's a right click thing?
