Hi Everyone,
I wonder if anyone could please help me. I paid for a training course to edit my audiobooks but I'm having problems because the training is based around Soundforge and Adobe Audition not Protools 12 which I have. I'm very new at editing and Protools and I have to find a way to do the following in Protools 12. I can't measure my sound levels or adjust them at all because I can't find any meters, amplitude statistics or match volume. If you could please help Id be grateful. Kind Regards, Daniela
Level Meters also called simply a meter is any visual representation of the amplitude of an audio signal. There are often meters on an interface or preamp (hardware leds are the most common) and in every DAW (software meters look very similar to hardware but are often more accurate). When the words level or levels are used in the context of audio recording, they are referring to the audio level or audio signal level that is displayed on your level meter in dB decibels.
Amplitude Statistics amplitude statistics is the statistics window used for measuring audio file statistics. In the context of audio Recording, Statistics is a grouping of the Loudness information of an audio File. This is called different things in different DAWs, but Statistics will often contain highest and lowest Peak db Level, RMS db Level, File length, and many other bits of information.
Match Volume is a process that is specific to Adobe Audition (though similar processes can be accomplished in other software). In the Match Volume Process, multiple audio files are added to the match volume window, and Peak or RMS Level of each file is raised or lowered so that all files have the same Peak or RMS level. The Peak or RMS level desired can be changed in the settings.
