If you use the AvidApplicationManager to update Pro Tools, you never have a local backup of the installer app. Once installed, it gets deleted from the following folder:
/Library/Caches/Avid/AppManager/Downloads/
Soooo.... after downloading, but BEFORE you install, copy the installer to your Installer Backup Folder (You DO have one, don't you?) :-)
This is for Mac OS, though I imagine there is a similar folder for Windows and maybe someone will post it in the comments.
